Volunteerism & Education-Based Travel
VolunTours™
In 2003 Los Niņos launched a "social venture", VolunTours™,
a marketing and membership building social enterprise that supports
the sale of volunteer vacations, team building events and additional
service learning opportunities. The intention is for the income generated
to benefit Los Niņos' core community-driven development programs as
well as offer participants new awareness, education and volunteer

Service Learning Program
This unique service learning immersion program offers groups extended-weekend
and week-long visits that combine hands-on activities with formal
educational opportunities to provide a well-rounded and engaging learning
experience. Every year over 600 participants are able to acquire a
deeper understanding of the complexities of Mexico and the border
region as they experience both the economic poverty of the communities
and the richness of the community relationships.
The Power of Community Service! Through community service, visiting groups work shoulder to shoulder
with Mexican residents in community-driven projects that enhance local
schools and community centers. The program offers thousands of hours
of labor and materials to Mexican communities. U.S. students learn
and serve. This Service Learning approach is nearly self-funding from
the fees and support of the students. The U.S. groups raise funds
to cover their stay and to support some of the construction costs.
Through our school construction projects alone, we were able to directly
benefit over 7,000 Mexican children during the last academic year.
